Why is oz a werewolf

Oz was worthy of a much deeper exploration on the show and Green himself believed so as well. As Seth Green explained in an interview with The AV Club , he had frequently approached series creator Joss Whedon with ideas that would add more depth to his scenes. And I was getting other opportunities, so I asked to be let out, because I spent an entire season as a regular on the show, not doing or saying anything.

The main issue was likely that, between focusing on the Big Bad of any given season and fleshing out the dynamics between the four main members of the Scooby Gang Buffy, Willow, Xander, and Giles , there was little room left for supporting characters. Oz was defined by his connection to Willow, Cordelia was mostly there to banter with Xander, and even Angel got much more memorably examined when he departed for his own spin-off.

Fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer know that the show is cause for many debates. You can fight on if the series was actually all a dream, or who was the best Big Bad. Possibly the most contested question of all is Team Angel or Team Spike, but while there are many ways to go about answering that, let's pose this question: What about Team Oz?

After all, Oz is the most underrated character on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the world needs to realize this. Oz, aka Daniel Osbourne, is introduced during Season 2 of the popular series. While he's only on the show for three seasons, he really makes a splash due to his super dry humor, hilariously calm voice, and his overall cool-but-not- too -cool-guy demeanor. Oh, and also the fact that he's a werewolf. Oz is also adorably in love with Willow and the feelings are mutual, if for a time while he's on the show.

Sadly, his wolf-y traits force him to leave, and as everyone knows, Willow's true soulmate turns out to be Tara. Still Oz holds a very special place in every Buffy fan's heart. There are too many great moments to choose from, but here are just some of the many times that prove Oz deserves all the love from Buffy viewers. From the moment he sets his eyes on Willow, Oz is totally enamored with her. When he first spots her in Season 2, he's onstage playing with his band, Dingoes Ate My Baby, and he spots Willow in all her puffy coat glory.

She's dressed in a huge parka, fur and all, and Oz notices her from across the room. As the guitarist for his band, Oz is often seen ripping on his guitar. He came back to Willow, but found her in a new relationship, with Tara Maclay. In a fit of jealousy, Oz turned into a werewolf. He would likely have killed Tara, had not the Initiative stepped in and captured him. Alas, the Initiative planned to vivisect him to learn more about the condition. Realizing that he was still a danger to himself and his friends, Oz once again took to the road, in search of more answers.

Oz dresses like a typical slacking, high school rock musician. His red or sometimes brown or blonde hair is spiked usually. Originally, Oz was the mysterious kid in the traditional non-fiction sense. He hangs to the background, admiring Willow from afar, but never letting on that he might like her. Yet he mostly served in a support role, particularly supporting girlfriend Willow. Their relationship evolved as one might expect from a shy, nurturing couple in love.

Metaphorically and literally, Oz feels that this side of him should be solidly caged. When Veruca tried to leverage his animal side, it was literally more than Oz could take.

Therefore, he left to find a better cage. You could lose a finger. And he has a little hat… and pants. The monkey is the only cookie animal that gets to wear clothes, you know that? I have my hippo dignity! All monkeys are French. Only he used more words than that. And a globe. Smells dead. But moving around. I like him. Not the battle—High school. I got a lot of mileage out of the barter system.

This warlock in Romania sent me to some monks there, to learn some meditation techniques. It was intense. All about keeping your inner cool.
